I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Have a lovely Christmas and I'll see you in the New Year!! Bec x

Butterflies, Carols & now holidays???

So I have finished my Christmas singing for the year, which to be honest is quite strange. I have found that this year Christmas has been not that stressful now granted I have had an extremely busy year especially the last 3 months and I have done a Christmas Musical but it is strange to have time to myself at Christmas. This last weekend was a reflection of my usual running around like a crazy thing but it was one weekend and who doesn't love to get caught up in Christmas Spirit? The Christmas Musical went extremely well and was an excellent, fun way to usher in the festive season and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. People left uplifted, encouraged and excited and as a performer you can't ask for more than that.  Soul Factor has had a big year, a fantastic year but one that has stretched and challenged all of us and we all deserve some time off although you do miss one another haha! This last weekend gone was a busy one as a year ago my little niece Isabella wa

A Cowboy Christmas??

Hi Y'all!! (please read this blog in a southern drawl LOL!) I am in the throws of Production week and its a little crazy but exciting! Opening Saturday night, Soul Factor (along with some friends) are presenting For Unto Y'all - A Cowboy Christmas! This is a fabulous musical about the Christmas story but told in a different way, set in 1888 in the little town of Bethlehem in the Wyoming Territory in the Old West. "In this unconventional telling of the ageless story of Jesus' birth, old Doc Trotter introduces the angel Gabriel, a six-gun totin' masked man dressed in white, as Gabriel tells Mary and Joseph the good news. We follow the exploits of the “Three Wise Men” Frobisham (pompous Englishman), Prescott (brash New York journalist), Professor Von Metzenbaum (German astronomer) and their housekeeper Irish Kate as they travel through the hostile territory to arrive at Bethlehem to meet the new baby King. They also come across Governor Tyree - cousin of the leader

Hello 30!

Ok, so I've been "30" now for 2 weeks and so far this new decade seems to be not too bad. Actually the last few weeks have been great, super busy but really memorable. Isn't it funny how when we are approaching significant birthdays, we start to think about where we are in life and whether we have reached our goals or have achieved our dreams and I think more often than not we get worried that we're not "there" yet (wherever "there" is!). I suppose I have been thinking like this almost all of this year, 30 seemed like a looming figure :-p, and Ill admit that there are things that I thought I would have done by now. I felt I was getting older, things were changing and I was going to miss out. I was letting worry control my thoughts and worrying steals your joy. Then a couple of months back, after praying over it all God reminded me in many ways that he is in control, that I just needed to Trust Him and things would be alright.  Letting go can

Concerts, Airports & a 30th!

So I was out to dinner last night with two of my girlfriends and we were discussing blogs and writing them and I realised that I had not written here for a long time!! It has been a couple of months and i feel bad! Lots has been happening I will say that, this month especially! In fact the weekend of the 11-13 October was probably the busiest yet strangest weekend Ive had for a while.  Friday the 11 Oct was the day of my 30th Birthday party (yes its a new decade, crazy!), my actually birthday is the 29th but as my little sister is getting married (more about that later) that week it was important to change it. So I celebrated along with a few people that mean alot to me. The theme was Old Hollywood Glamour and so everyone came in their red carpet best. Everyone looked stunning and I was so happy with how the room turned out. I felt very blessed to have enjoyed it. Adding to the evening, our good family friend and amazing pianist Michael Harding flew over from Melbourne to provide live

Muffins & Musicals!

Well its been a little while since I was here and I can only put that down to being busy :-) I have been getting back into life by rehearsing for Soul Factor's next Broadway Concerts "You're the Top" which is on the 17th August, then I've had some gigs, work and even a little bit of filming so life is interesting at the moment! But today I thought I would do something different and give you a recipe. Now you may wonder why but I do love to bake and for over a year now I have also been fructose free or sugar free for those playing at home. Now while I still do cook with sugar for those others in my life I do love to try and/or create sugar free recipes.  My initial contact with going sugar free was by reading the book "Sweet Poison" by David Gillespie and David likes to substitute sugar with dextrose which is pure glucose (with out the fructose that table sugar has).  It can be a little tricky to work with but I do like to work with it to. So the reci

Songs of Little Women

Well my show has finished, sad but true! Actually it finished two weeks ago but then it takes a little while to get back into real life. I was really sad to see this one go, most of the things I do I am sad they finish but this one I wasn't even over yet and the cast and crew were so fabulous that we all just had a great time.  Little Women is such a beautiful story, have you read it? seen the movie? Its not just a story about 4 girls and the nothingness that is their lives but a tale of how these little women become grown women in a time that was still dominated by men.  Lousia May Alcott brings to life characters that are in all forms of life expected by women and traits that are not.  The musical allows us to tell the story set in a different time but through contempory music because the themes still mean so much today.  *Sigh* but it is over, the audiences loved it , we loved it but it is now onto new things! A few new things on the cards so will talk about them soon! Bec x

Whistle while you work!

So it's again been a little while between posts, it seems I am struggling to sit down and write as time is whipping by! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break I spent mine singing both here in Adelaide and at the Belgrave Convention at Belgrave Heights and catching up with the sister and beautiful niece Bella. How are you coping with the pace of this year?? Anyway as always I am busy singing, learning & doing makeup.  March was a crazy month with a couple of interstate trips, a competition and the beginning of rehearsals for Little Women the Musical which I will be performing in June as Meg the eldest sister. We are having a great time and the cast is fabulous! Its such a wonderful story and the music is fantastic so if you are wanting to attend be on the lookout for info from Therry Dramatic Society click here  or follow the Facebook page here  and I will surely post more info. It seems I am rehearsing like a crazy person at the moment, what with 3 rehersals a

Captivated!

Hello! it has been a little while since my last blog post. I know I have been getting the year underway and in January I had a little bit of time off singing so that was nice just to refresh. But it is February and I have been getting back into it. Two weeks ago I sang with Olivia (my sister) at our niece Isabella's dedication in Melbourne. It was a lovely afternoon, dedicating this beautiful little girl back to God. It was also a great catch up time for my family as a big chunk of family lives in Victoria and so we were able to share and eat together and have lots of Bella cuddles. This past weekend I was the special Guest Artist at the Captivated Women's Conference at Collaroy Centre, Collaroy NSW. This years conference was based around John 10:10 "I came that they may have & enjoy life, and have it in ABUNDANCE" so the theme was Abundance. I was then able to share with the women of the conference for about an hour, just about my life, songs that I love

Happy New Year!

Well its 2013....Happy New Year!!! I hope that this finds you well and that you have had a wonderful start to the new year. Do you make resolutions? or do you believe you will just break them? I have goals but not necessarily resolutions but it is always good to focus your mind and give yourself a little road map even if you get totally lost sometime there haha! I like new years, its nice to think you can have a fresh start, a clean slate and to start again. I know for me and my family we would hope that 2013 is not going to be like 2012 but one doesn't know what is going to happen and really I am happy to leave that in God's hands as I know, if he wants me to go through it he will get me through it. I am feeling and praying for the people in Tassie who have started this year by losing everything they had to the fires, that was not expected but they do have their lives and I am sure will be cared for by the wonderful emergency services crews. I am praying that this ye
