Butterflies, Carols & now holidays???

So I have finished my Christmas singing for the year, which to be honest is quite strange. I have found that this year Christmas has been not that stressful now granted I have had an extremely busy year especially the last 3 months and I have done a Christmas Musical but it is strange to have time to myself at Christmas. This last weekend was a reflection of my usual running around like a crazy thing but it was one weekend and who doesn't love to get caught up in Christmas Spirit?
The Christmas Musical went extremely well and was an excellent, fun way to usher in the festive season and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. People left uplifted, encouraged and excited and as a performer you can't ask for more than that.
Soul Factor has had a big year, a fantastic year but one that has stretched and challenged all of us and we all deserve some time off although you do miss one another haha!

This last weekend gone was a busy one as a year ago my little niece Isabella was born (where did that year go!). I remember being with all the Soul Factor people at the Adelaide Carols by Candlelight rehearsal as we crowded around the phone hearing that she had been born. She is such a blessing in our family and a credit to her beautiful parents. So Liv & I flew over on Friday night to attend her birthday party Saturday morning. It was a fun time celebrating this beautiful kid, she looked very pretty in her party dress with wings and she smiled and laughed her way through the morning until all the adults were exhausted haha!!
Liv and I then flew back Saturday night, so it was a quick trip but a lovely one.

Then Sunday was the Adelaide Carols by Candlelight. Soul Factor was again one of the backing choirs (we've been doing it for many years now) but there were 5 of us who backed Samantha Jade for her version of Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee. She was really lovely to work with and we all had a ball. The whole night was again a fun night for Soul Factor and a bunch of great acts Samantha Jade, The Borderers, Michelle Nightingale, The Collective, The Germein Sisters, E-Type Jazz and more. We always love singing and watching the crowd enjoy themselves plus last nights weather was great too!!

So all in all a great weekend!! Now to finish my Christmas shopping!!

Happy Birthday Songs!

So I'm now 31! I can not believe a year has already passed since my 30th and all that was going on at that time. There I was last year thinking "Oh my goodness, I'm in a new age range I've hit 30" and that year has already past. Well, I can say that being in your 30's is not bad actually and if anything I am happy I'm here, yes minus a few things I thought I would have gained in that 30th year but I am happy, healthy and surrounded by those who love me so I am extremely grateful. This years birthday was a lot less flashy than last years (thank goodness because that was a lot of work haha!) but lovely all the same. It began actually on Saturday, my sister Liv had organised a breakfast and surprised me by inviting some of girlfriends to join us. The cafĂ© we went to was Harvest in Mylor, South Australia. It was really adorable and encourage you to check it out some time. We sat outside in gorgeous weather, under the tress and enjoyed each others company and...

"Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain"

I can't believe I am sitting here already a week after the opening of Emma Knights Productions Oklahoma! on a Farm and we have finished another fabulous season and I've already jumped into rehearsals for the next couple of things. But I wanted to take a moment to again talk about this show and to say how grateful I am to be able to perform like this. This season of Oklahoma was HOT!! in many ways but also "literally" haha!! The temperatures of the weekend were in the high 30's and Saturday was so humid, but the amazing cast, crew and orchestra pushed through it and the performances was fabulous. And thats not just me saying that but the audiences who came were again raving at how good it was and what I find wonderful is they all sat through it, in the heat themselves but did not complain. There is something about being on the farm, if you have never been to Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton I encourage you to (even better if it's for a show I'm doing...

Be the Hero of your story....

Well after around 4 months of rehearsal the time has come for us to open "Big Fish" the Musical. Tonight is the Preview before tomorrow Opening Night and I am so excited to share it with audiences and bring the SA Premiere to Adelaide! You may have gathered from other posts that I LOVE this musical and the role that I am playing. Of all the lead roles I have played, this one, Sandra Bloom, is a special one. But I think that has a lot to do with the cast, production team and all those involved with putting this show on. It has been such a wonderful rehearsal period creating something beautiful and for that I feel very blessed. I get to sing some beautiful songs, be a mother and grandmother and have red hair! Plus you don't want to miss my blue Sparkly dress!! If you are trying to decide whether to come to it as you don't know the story or music I encourage you to take a leap and come along. This music had me from the first listen and the story is so full of heart ...
