So focus, and focus......

And another show is finished. Saturday night saw the closing show of 35mm: A Musical Exhibition, the Fringe show that I have been working on and performing last week.

This really was an interesting show and something quite different to what I've done before. The music was an eclectic bunch of styles but also a challenging array of harmonies and tempos, of which I enjoyed pushing myself to get correct. For me personally, I was singing and bouncing all over my range from very low to high so it was a good workout.

My role itself was as the Photographer and I got to stroll around the room, picking out cast from their frames so that they could sing/act out the next story. I really enjoyed it actually and the fact that I got to step back and listen occasionally was a nice bonus.

My fellow cast mates where a great bunch of people. Yes we were all very different, but together it just worked and I was so proud of all of us. There were funny songs, crazy songs, beautiful and sad songs and together we just went from one to the other. The best thing was that even though audience members said they had trouble understanding the words (new songs, lots of words to catch) they still thoroughly enjoyed it because it was beautiful to listen to.  Well it was an Art piece technically so doesn't have to make sense haha!

Our live musicians were great, it was a pleasure to work with you. Jess, our director was passionate and fun to work with. She had great ideas and we were able to make most of them work I think as she trusted we could. And of course, Emma Knights (producer & MD). I always enjoy working with Emma, she works hard and likes to take a gamble on shows and people and it seems to work. I am so thankful for the opportunities she gives me.

So that show has finished and now onto the next. Of course I am in rehearsals for Aida and enjoying that, earlybird tickets are available at http://www.hillsmusical.org.au/ so check it out. There are also some other things happening, which I will talk about at another time :)

Saturday (11th March) was also the 5 year anniversary of the passing of my brother Alex. I honestly can't believe its been that long, I still feel as if he will walk through the door or call me or something. I miss him a lot lately, in the things I'm doing that I know he would have loved or been part of himself and just that I miss talking to him and hearing him sing. But it's funny, God brings people into my life that remind me of him all the time so in a way he's always around and I am always thankful for the reminder.

Well I hope you have a wonderful week & maybe see a live performance somewhere 😊😊

All Shook Up!

I am blessed. A week ago I got back from an amazing singing trip. Cruising the seas, performing with amazing musicians and performers, 16 shows in 7 days, plenty of food and a ton of laughs - I am still smiling. The Cruise 'N Groove Elvis Meets the Legends Cruise was a fantastic week. I had never been on a cruise before so it was quite an experience, I loved the food and the weather was fantastic (only a bit of rockiness to contend with) and we visited Mare and Noumea in New Caledonia.  I am reasonably new to the Elvis world and so this was an eye opener for that as well but I actually loved it. Elvis fans are exceptionally passionate and in some ways quite a wonder.  I was on this trip as a backing vocalist with the Tributes in Concert Band or TIC Band and we backed all of the headlining Elvis Tribute Artists. So to the band first, what a privilege it was to perform with them. Each and everyone of them super talented (to the point, that I would get caught watching them at t

MMMBop and road trip classics 😉

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha 😜 We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and my sister
