What a weekend!

It's taken me until today to recover really, it was a rather big weekend haha!

It's funny how you go through life and great things, big things etc all seem to clump together, it can't be nicely spread out over time. Well that is what happened on the past weekend, don't get me wrong I had a ball but I was rather exhausted come Monday morning.

So what was I doing? Well Saturday started with a big rehearsal with the J.D. Lord Band getting ready for our gig Sunday evening. We did have a rather long set list and although Backing Vocals aren't exactly hard they are taxing on your voice (and some of mine are rather high!) plus you are singing over a loud band. Anyway, Saturday arvo/evening I was getting ready for a Ding Productions gig at the Hilton Adelaide. It was fun to be back with this group and doing our "Funhouse" set. Which includes lots of colours, facepaint, dancers, aerialists and an array of music. The prep definitely goes longer than the actual performance but it is all fun and I do love the craziness of the costumes!

Rosie and I in our fabulous costumes :)

So that was Saturday. Sunday dawned and it was another day of rehearsals and then a gig. So this day I had 6 hours of rehearsals for Big Fish (which opens two weeks today!! Get your tickets online here
they are selling well so don't miss out!) Our first run through and also looking at costumes so it was crazy but I do love this musical and the people in it so it still went ok and it will be fabulous to watch.

After this I headed over to Norwood for the J.D. Lord Band gig. What a great night this was! I already love the music which is 60's/70s Tom Jones, Elvis and other great hits but to sing them live and have people really enjoying them adds so much. There was probably a couple hundred there and many were up dancing and having a great time. John did a great job for his first out the front show and it was great to be singing with my sister Olivia (7 months pregnant she did a fab job! and looked amazing) and Sophie plus the rest of the boys in the band were not bad haha!!

Monday morning I could barely move, my body had decided that hours in high heels and singing was too much! But I am so grateful for the opportunities I get to sing and perform and also to meet new people.
Now the main focus is Big Fish (its nice for a little time to have just one lot of songs to remember haha).

Happy Thursday!

All Shook Up!

I am blessed. A week ago I got back from an amazing singing trip. Cruising the seas, performing with amazing musicians and performers, 16 shows in 7 days, plenty of food and a ton of laughs - I am still smiling. The Cruise 'N Groove Elvis Meets the Legends Cruise was a fantastic week. I had never been on a cruise before so it was quite an experience, I loved the food and the weather was fantastic (only a bit of rockiness to contend with) and we visited Mare and Noumea in New Caledonia.  I am reasonably new to the Elvis world and so this was an eye opener for that as well but I actually loved it. Elvis fans are exceptionally passionate and in some ways quite a wonder.  I was on this trip as a backing vocalist with the Tributes in Concert Band or TIC Band and we backed all of the headlining Elvis Tribute Artists. So to the band first, what a privilege it was to perform with them. Each and everyone of them super talented (to the point, that I would get caught watching them at t

MMMBop and road trip classics ๐Ÿ˜‰

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha ๐Ÿ˜œ We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and my sister
