Well you may have wondered why I haven't blogged for a while and its because so much has been happening. Last weekend on March 11 2012 my beautiful 18 year old brother Alex passed away. He had been a passenger in a car accident on Friday 9th and due to his injuries passed away two days later.
Alex was a special treasure to me (him being 10 years younger) and we had a great relationship. Alex was funny, talented, outgoing, not afraid of what people thought about him, tender, caring, handsome, talented and loved the Lord. So often in his life I would be amazed at what this kid could do or say to/with people. He loved his video games, pokemon, the farm he lived on, singing, barbershop quartets, his family, having a good joke, salt & vinegar chips. He was always a friend to those that didn't have one and was very purposeful in his relationships.
He was always my encourager, even from an early age he would come out and encourage me to pursue my skills, ask me why I wasn't doing more etc and I loved it.
As a singer he was quite exceptional. His voice had come into its own in the last couple of year, him being a bass and loving it. He worked on it and when he performed it was as if he was years older.
Here is a video of him singing with us sisters at the Mount Barker Carols last year. It was such a priviledge and something we will treasure forever.
Although this is hard my family and I believe that God has a greater plan, that He wanted Alex home and knew that his death would bring more glory to him than healing. Ultimately we wanted perfect healing not anything else and that is what we got. So many people were praying for Alex and us and I would like to thank all of you for this. We as a family pray that God will use this and people will come to know him more, learning to praise through all situations.
For me as a singer it now means I understand a lot of the words I sing, I mean them and they are my testimony.
I will miss you Al, I love you so much and know that you are up there singing with the hosts!
