Catch up!

Why hello there......
So this is my first ever blog post and I hope it is not my last! So for a while I have thought I should be writing about the happenings in my life but have not gotten around to it but this last few months I have been studying Web Communications as part of my Bachelor in Fine Arts & Visual Culture and have been introduced again to the 'phenomenon' that is blogging and sharing your thoughts online.  So as part of our course we are to sign up to a blog platform and work on our online presence, so here I am.

I have entitled this blog "A Song for Everything" because being a singer I tend to have a song for every situation and that follows through for all my family (we are all singers).  I thought that I would jot down thoughts about my singing trips and exploits and other things which bring music to mind. This happens often so you may see more than one post up!

I do wish that I had started writing this earlier in the year as I have travelled and toured in the UK with the band I'm in, the Melbourne Staff Band , as we were apart of the 120 year celebrations of the International Staff Band.  With this tour besides having a fabulous time and loving singing for different people over 10 days, I also got to sing in the Royal Albert Hall in London, a dream come true!!!

It was a truly amazing experience and I will never forget it!

Well that's all for today.  The group I am in Soul Factor Gospel Choir is heading to Cobram, Victoria this weekend so I am sure to report back about that!

Happy Birthday Songs!

So I'm now 31! I can not believe a year has already passed since my 30th and all that was going on at that time. There I was last year thinking "Oh my goodness, I'm in a new age range I've hit 30" and that year has already past. Well, I can say that being in your 30's is not bad actually and if anything I am happy I'm here, yes minus a few things I thought I would have gained in that 30th year but I am happy, healthy and surrounded by those who love me so I am extremely grateful. This years birthday was a lot less flashy than last years (thank goodness because that was a lot of work haha!) but lovely all the same. It began actually on Saturday, my sister Liv had organised a breakfast and surprised me by inviting some of girlfriends to join us. The cafĂ© we went to was Harvest in Mylor, South Australia. It was really adorable and encourage you to check it out some time. We sat outside in gorgeous weather, under the tress and enjoyed each others company and...

"Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain"

I can't believe I am sitting here already a week after the opening of Emma Knights Productions Oklahoma! on a Farm and we have finished another fabulous season and I've already jumped into rehearsals for the next couple of things. But I wanted to take a moment to again talk about this show and to say how grateful I am to be able to perform like this. This season of Oklahoma was HOT!! in many ways but also "literally" haha!! The temperatures of the weekend were in the high 30's and Saturday was so humid, but the amazing cast, crew and orchestra pushed through it and the performances was fabulous. And thats not just me saying that but the audiences who came were again raving at how good it was and what I find wonderful is they all sat through it, in the heat themselves but did not complain. There is something about being on the farm, if you have never been to Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton I encourage you to (even better if it's for a show I'm doing...

Turkish and Other Delights! Part Two...

And so the story of the trip continues here Part One can be found here ! So we arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday 21st April 2015 and as I said in the previous post we were struck by how many people there were and how crazy the driving was but luckily we were picked up by our tour company, Travelshop Turkey. We did make it to our hotel, The Green Park Hotel, safely and this hotel seemed quite nice. We did find it weird we didnt know anything about our start time in the morning or anything else from our tour but the guy at the desk did say that they were rather unorganised and not to worry, he'd let us know. Dancers on the boat Our first experience began that night began with a Bosphorus River and Dinner Cruise (to be honest we didn't quite know what to expect), people had said that it was great to cruise on the Bosphorus and see Istanbul from the water. Well we got picked up along with some others we didn't know and headed to our boat. Well this night was an experience!...
