Story of My Life

So if you are a performer in Adelaide at this time of year, you tend to be getting a little bit busy, well actually that could be if you are in Adelaide during Feb/Mar you are about to get busy. That might be a generalisation but with the Adelaide Fringe, the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide 500, Womadelaide just to name a few, there is a lot going on!

So being busy is kind of the "story of my life" but this year has had an exceptionally busy one! I finished January with "Shrek the Musical" and that was really such a fun show! I talked about it in my last post as we had got through the first weekend, 40 degree heat and all. We did make it through the final weekend with 40 degree heat but great success. The audiences loved it and we all got great reviews. I do miss it, Fiona was such a great character to play and I really enjoyed working with everyone.

I went straight out of that into SideShow the Musical with Hills Musical Company, where I am playing one of the Hilton Twins, Violet. Such a different musical to the two I have already done this year 😆 but it is a wonderful story based on true life and there is some awesome music. Performance for that is end of April - Start of May so a little while a way but we are rehearsing and Earlybird tickets are onsale now!

But what is coming up is Fringe and for that I am in 3 different shows! The beauty of the Adelaide Fringe is that there is such diversity of shows and experiences. My 3 shows are:

"A Gospel Shot"

This show is presented by Soul Factor Gospel Choir and will be a wonderful 90 minutes of many styles of Gospel Music. Soul Factor concerts are always high energy and full of beautiful music. Fun and entertainment for all ages. So don't miss it. 2 Shows on the 24th Feb 2018, 3pm and 8pm.

"Pirates of Penzance" on the Popeye

For the last 4 years this wonderful show has sold out at the Adelaide Fringe and we are back for a 5th year. Fun and immersive, this show will have you laughing and singing along while enjoying beautiful views on the river.
There is also a special Auslan translated performance for those who are hearing impaired at the National Wine Centre on February 19th.
So grab your mates and book your tickets as its already on its way to another sell out!

"More than a Woman"

And finally a show with my SISTERS!! This show is about the BEE GEEs through the eyes of their sister. We Raymond Sisters are singing the music and what fun it is. So good to be singing together again but also this music is just so iconic and fun, we would love to see you there!

It is for ONE NIGHT ONLY! Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 7:30pm at the National Wine Centre, Adelaide. Get your tickets here!

Plus......

My Mary Kay Director Debut is this coming Friday!! I am so looking forward to getting underway as a Director, this was a dream that I had been working towards and it seems everything comes at once haha! But I am so grateful to God for all the opportunities I have to share with people through music and makeup and for all those who support me in that.

So with all this going on, I am starting to get a little crazy at times so I know I need to take moments for myself and recharge (I am working on that!).
I hope you have a wonderful week and look forward to seeing you at some of the shows!

A Dream is a wish your heart makes....

A dream is a wish you heart makes... Do you have a dream? something that you want your life to be? or somewhere you want to go? Are you reaching for it? I have had a dream to be a Mary Kay Director since I joined the company 10 years ago and this month I took a huge step to achieving this. On October 1st I entered into DIQ or Director in Qualification, I now have 4 months to become a Director. I am very excited about this, the timing seemed right and when I do it I will be able to do just Mary Kay and Singing which will be perfect! It is rather scary though because there is a lot of work to be done in those four months, I have to build my team and reach certain production goals and sometimes it seems crazy, but that's the idea of moving up isn't it? taking a leap of faith? So why Directorship you ask? I understand leadership is not for everyone but I have always been drawn to it. I do have a passion for helping women feel good about themselves and I believe that we are...

MMMBop and road trip classics 😉

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha 😜 We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and m...

"Oh what a Beautiful Morning, Oh what a Beautiful Day...."

"Oh what a Beautiful Morning, Oh what a Beautiful Day......" Well actually its been a beautiful week! I did have the absolute privilege to play Laurey in Oklahoma! presented live on Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton SA. It was such a beautiful setting to be in everyday, trees, fresh air, animals in the paddocks around and one rather show stealing peacock!! The cast was fabulous, the orchestra amazing and the sound superb (Tim Freedman, Allpro Audio  love your work!!). At the risk of sounding cheesy it was a magical experience. From the moment that Curly rides along the ridge on his horse (an actual horse!) singing "Oh what a Beautiful Morning" people were captivated. It was such a labour of love for all of us, and to see the joy in people's faces was so wonderful. This production was the idea of Emma Knights from Emma Knights Productions and along with some other wonderful people who captured the vision of it all as well, it actua...
