Heaven & Nature Swing!

I do love Christmas time and all that it entails including Christmas Carols and being a singer you do tend to sing alot of them.  Christmas Eve will be the last carols I sing at and that will be 6 for this year but it is always fun and wouldn't feel like Christmas without it!

Do you have a favourite Christmas album?

I am gathering that many would say Mariah Carey's??  Our family never really got into that album but the album that has become a tradition in our house, to play when putting up the Christmas tree and on Christmas morning while opening presents is Phil Driscoll's 1993 "Heaven & Nature Swing" Christmas Album. Such a brilliant album of Christmas classics done in swing/jazz style and Phil both sings and plays trumpet on it!
Another fave is Josh Groban's "Noel" and this year Michael Buble's "Christmas".  Music is such a crucial part of this season and spreads the message of the Miracle of Jesus' birth and the gift of Love that was. 

My favourite carol would be O Holy Night but then I love most of them, what's yours?

Be the Hero of your story....

Well after around 4 months of rehearsal the time has come for us to open "Big Fish" the Musical. Tonight is the Preview before tomorrow Opening Night and I am so excited to share it with audiences and bring the SA Premiere to Adelaide! You may have gathered from other posts that I LOVE this musical and the role that I am playing. Of all the lead roles I have played, this one, Sandra Bloom, is a special one. But I think that has a lot to do with the cast, production team and all those involved with putting this show on. It has been such a wonderful rehearsal period creating something beautiful and for that I feel very blessed. I get to sing some beautiful songs, be a mother and grandmother and have red hair! Plus you don't want to miss my blue Sparkly dress!! If you are trying to decide whether to come to it as you don't know the story or music I encourage you to take a leap and come along. How it Ends....

Usually with tears haha!! Sadly all good things do have to come to an end and on Saturday evening the season of "Big Fish" The Musical had its last bow. But what an amazing time it was! Often you'll get to the end of doing a show (which has taken months of your life up) and think "it's been great but be glad to finish", Big Fish was not like that at all. I have been blessed to do some fabulous shows, with great people and of course when your passion is performing and you get to do it everyday, you don't want to let it go. But from the first rehearsal, we all knew we had something special. The musical itself is a magical journey filled with colour, joy and mythical characters entwined with real life and love, the music although sometimes called unmemorable is just beautiful and not only am I not over it, I can't seem to stop listening to it! Our orchestra was so amazing with the difficult score, and the backstage & technical crew were phenomena...

2018 Celebration!!

2018 has really been an amazing year.  When I look back on what I've actually done this year it is actually quite crazy but I've enjoyed every minute of it.  There have been times of difficulty and real stress when things didn't go to plan but God has blessed me so abundantly and really allowed me to use my gifts to share with people and to create a life that is really full of joy. So at the beginning of this year, I actually said I was gonna have a quieter year and that turned out to not be true in the slightest. But it has been amazing!  So this year, I have done Oklahoma on a Farm twice, played Princess Fiona in an SA Premiere of Shrek (plus learned to tap dance), done a Bee Gee's Tribute with my sisters, climbed aboard a Pirate Ship many times, been a Siamese Twin in SideShow the Musical, been an Ice & Fire Queen, learnt and performed many Elvis songs, sang on a Cruise Ship,  sang on the radio 4 times, perfomed in concerts, gigs, dinne...
