Sing for me......

Teaching singing lessons and vocal coaching was something I only really got into last year. Of course I have dabbled with it over the years, through taking groups, musicals, people asking etc and you can not be around music as much as I am and not share with people. But last year I took a step and took on some students. What had been holding me back was that i don't really play the piano, I can play for myself but for others .....no! 😅
But I realised that I was holding back things I had learnt and could share with people and that was selfish really. The funny thing was when I did step out I really enjoyed it.

I like to think of my style of teaching as pretty simple. I want to know that I can do what I am teaching and I can then explain what it is like for me. Which I find does help people understand it and or not feel silly when I suggest something just as silly or do it along with you. Growing up in a performing family I feel there is a lot that I learnt naturally and if not it was taught to me from a very early age but this is not the case for most people and so it is interesting to try and teach something I find natural to others. Pulled back and simple.

It has been really wonderful to see students improving, getting excited that they are able to do something now. To see with just a simple shift, things suddenly makes sense. Then because of that other growth happens such as confidence and belief. So I am grateful to see this happen.

I am still taking students, so if you are someone wanting to improve your voice or maybe increase what you can do with your voice or maybe you just want to learn some technique maybe I can help you!

Skype/online lessons are also available.
Contact me through here or via my Music facebook page if you are interested. I'd love to hear from you.

So there is a lot going on at the moment. I spoke about my Fringe show in an earlier post and it starts next WEEK!!! I am looking forward to sharing it with people and actually getting to it. 35MM: a Musical Exhibition is a SA Premiere and blends photography exhibition with music and is set in the beautiful Cathedral Room of the Adelaide Oval. I encourage you to get tickets and come along!

Also Aida rehearsals have started!! This is also an SA Premiere and a really lovely musical. Plus I am being joined onstage with some of my Soul Factor pals including my dad who is playing my Father again haha!! Earlybird Tickets are on sale already and available at http://www.hillsmusical.org.au/

Oh and one last thing, I do have a YouTube channel that you might be interested at looking at. I am trying to add songs and performances to this more often so you can see what I have been doing. I did just the other day add me singing in the Musical Big Fish, which if you have been reading my posts, know that I LOVED being a part of that musical last year and this is one of my favourite parts of the show and songs that I sang "I Don't Need a Roof" . So enjoy :)

Have a fabulous week!!

A Dream is a wish your heart makes....

A dream is a wish you heart makes... Do you have a dream? something that you want your life to be? or somewhere you want to go? Are you reaching for it? I have had a dream to be a Mary Kay Director since I joined the company 10 years ago and this month I took a huge step to achieving this. On October 1st I entered into DIQ or Director in Qualification, I now have 4 months to become a Director. I am very excited about this, the timing seemed right and when I do it I will be able to do just Mary Kay and Singing which will be perfect! It is rather scary though because there is a lot of work to be done in those four months, I have to build my team and reach certain production goals and sometimes it seems crazy, but that's the idea of moving up isn't it? taking a leap of faith? So why Directorship you ask? I understand leadership is not for everyone but I have always been drawn to it. I do have a passion for helping women feel good about themselves and I believe that we are...

MMMBop and road trip classics 😉

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha 😜 We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and m...

"Oh what a Beautiful Morning, Oh what a Beautiful Day...."

"Oh what a Beautiful Morning, Oh what a Beautiful Day......" Well actually its been a beautiful week! I did have the absolute privilege to play Laurey in Oklahoma! presented live on Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton SA. It was such a beautiful setting to be in everyday, trees, fresh air, animals in the paddocks around and one rather show stealing peacock!! The cast was fabulous, the orchestra amazing and the sound superb (Tim Freedman, Allpro Audio  love your work!!). At the risk of sounding cheesy it was a magical experience. From the moment that Curly rides along the ridge on his horse (an actual horse!) singing "Oh what a Beautiful Morning" people were captivated. It was such a labour of love for all of us, and to see the joy in people's faces was so wonderful. This production was the idea of Emma Knights from Emma Knights Productions and along with some other wonderful people who captured the vision of it all as well, it actua...
