Blessed Spring!!

Well how the time flies!! Especially this year or maybe its just as we get older time speeds up?? either way I can not believe we are in September and I haven't written a post since July. I can explain that actually I was rather busy in August, good busy but time was short in that month.

I was very aware in August how blessed I am to have the ability to sing (or make music) and then also that I have opportunities to share with people through performance. Soul Factor performed their, what has been in the last 5 years, Annual Broadway concert. We performed 3 concerts over two weekends, the first in Mount Barker and the last 2 concerts in Victor Harbor. This year it was more of a favourites concert of music, while always having a range of songs this gave us the chance to redo some from past concerts or add a favourite we hadn't done yet. All in all there was about 20 songs and all with costumes and most with choreography so it is rather a big undertaking. The thing is though once you get up there, it is brilliant. I just love it and so do the audiences! the fact that we are able to give them snippets of so many musical or movies that they love in a couple of hours is such a delight. Soul Factor is also very good (if I do say so myself haha) so its a quality show and our joy in performing is reflected on our faces. Some of the songs from this years shows were Aladdin, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Chorus Line, Bye Bye Birdie, Hairspray and the list keeps going. A highlight for me was that my sister Liv and I got to sing songs from Frozen. I did "Let it Go" and to watch the kids in the room (and some adults) sing every word and be doing the 'actions' was fabulous.

Soul Factor is now taking a break from these concerts, we are doing the Christmas Musical "For Unto Y'all" again December 18 - 21st 2014 but Broadway Concerts are having a little rest so it was wonderful to share with so many.

So with the Broadway shows over it is time to look at what is next! I am in the midst of rehearsals for Legally Blonde the Musical with the Hills Musical Company. It is shaping up as a fabulous show with so much energy and fun, make sure you come along for a great night out. The season begins November 7th 2014. For more info or tix head to http://www.hillsmusical.org.au/legally-blonde/

I am also the guest artist at a concert on the 19th September (yes next week!) with the Marion Town Band. It is a concert raising money for Legacy Australia. I am singing some old time favourites and look forward to working with the band and sharing with some new people. If you want to come along check out the poster below for details.

So lots of things happening and I am so thankful. As I said before I am constantly reminded of what a blessing it is to be able to sing and share and for me I do it all for God. At Soul Factor's rehearsal last week we were singing through songs from our gospel repertoire and these songs are just so beautiful. One of my favourites is "I Love You" and a line in that song is how I want to live my life.

"Lord in everything I do, my heart is lifted high in praise to you."

Have a fabulous week!

A Dream is a wish your heart makes....

A dream is a wish you heart makes... Do you have a dream? something that you want your life to be? or somewhere you want to go? Are you reaching for it? I have had a dream to be a Mary Kay Director since I joined the company 10 years ago and this month I took a huge step to achieving this. On October 1st I entered into DIQ or Director in Qualification, I now have 4 months to become a Director. I am very excited about this, the timing seemed right and when I do it I will be able to do just Mary Kay and Singing which will be perfect! It is rather scary though because there is a lot of work to be done in those four months, I have to build my team and reach certain production goals and sometimes it seems crazy, but that's the idea of moving up isn't it? taking a leap of faith? So why Directorship you ask? I understand leadership is not for everyone but I have always been drawn to it. I do have a passion for helping women feel good about themselves and I believe that we are

MMMBop and road trip classics 😉

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha 😜 We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and my sister

Where has all the time gone to?

Oh my goodness, it is March and this is the first blog post I am writing this YEAR!! I am sorry for the lack of blog posts. This year has started off with a bang and kept going and now is flying past! So let's catch up. 2019 began actually slowly for me, for the past few years I have had Oklahoma in the first week of January but this year we didn't have it so it was nice to have some holidays as last year was crazy! But the new year started with an Elvis Gig on the 6th, great to catch up and sing with the band again and then I headed off to Kuala Lumpur for Mary Kay Leadership Conference.  I had a ball there, meeting and learning from other Directors in Malaysia, Phillipines and Singapore but also getting to know the Aussie and NZ Directors better. Plus I had to sing in the Talent Night with the rest of the Directors from Aus/NZ Dancing behind and WE WON!! Hilarious but a fab time.  So then it was back and straight into rehearsals for Soul Factor's Fringe show
