Music, Masters & Mums!

Wow I can not believe that we are already into May, so much is happening this year and it is flying past! Is that the same for you? It isn't just me? I hope you are well and that you had a wonderful Easter and holidays.

Easter seems so long ago now but I had a wonderful Easter. I was the guest artist at the Belgrave Easter Convention at Belgrave Heights. It was a wonderful weekend actually such fabulous speakers and a chance for me to sing a lot over a number of days and to share with the people attending.  I got there on Good Friday afternoon after singing at Moreland Salvation Army in the morning with and for my sister Lauren as she was leading the service. Anyway, I was able to spend from Good Friday afternoon until Monday Afternoon at the conference and was able to present a range of Easter music that I was thankful went over very well. It was actually lovely for me to be able to hear the speakers and other things that were going on as I normally fly in fly out so it was great. Also as I was there on my own, didn't know anyone I was glad to find everyone very friendly and willing to accommodate me.  So I encourage you if you have never been or have thought about going, to get along to some or all of the convention actually there are many different ones throughout the year so go to http://www.bhc.org.au to check it out.

After I returned from Belgrave I spent a couple of days with Lauren, Aaron and Bella. It was nice to have some time off but also to catch up with them.  Bella and I had a fun Auntie/Niece day where we went to Mainly Music together, had lunch, danced to the Wiggles, went shopping and on a ride. Bella is such a cutie but is full of energy haha!

Since returning home I have had an audition, sang at the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Launch Breakfast, did a little concert at a nursing home, worship led at church and been back to work. My brain was a little tired haha but its all fun.  Im looking forward to some new opportunities that have come up as well, its always fun to see how God will use you!

This past weekend was also a special one. Lauren, Aaron & Bella popped over for a quick visit as Lauren was graduating with her Masters of Arts: Christian Studies. I am so proud of Lauren as she has completed her study whilst studying to become a Salvation Army Officer, moving to Melbourne, being a wife and a mother. She is an inspiration and an amazing lady and I know God will bless her and use her in a great way.

And speaking of amazing women, yesterday was Mother's Day! How did you celebrate your Mother?  Our mothers are all different and some we will see, some we wont, some we are remembering and for others it's actually another woman again that we see as our Mother. But whatever the circumstances we thank these women. I am so grateful for my Mum and all she has done for me and our family. She is an amazing strong and talented lady and I cherish our relationship.

I hope that your Mother's Day was lovely and that you are looking forward to this week. A new week and new opportunities are ahead.

A Dream is a wish your heart makes....

A dream is a wish you heart makes... Do you have a dream? something that you want your life to be? or somewhere you want to go? Are you reaching for it? I have had a dream to be a Mary Kay Director since I joined the company 10 years ago and this month I took a huge step to achieving this. On October 1st I entered into DIQ or Director in Qualification, I now have 4 months to become a Director. I am very excited about this, the timing seemed right and when I do it I will be able to do just Mary Kay and Singing which will be perfect! It is rather scary though because there is a lot of work to be done in those four months, I have to build my team and reach certain production goals and sometimes it seems crazy, but that's the idea of moving up isn't it? taking a leap of faith? So why Directorship you ask? I understand leadership is not for everyone but I have always been drawn to it. I do have a passion for helping women feel good about themselves and I believe that we are

MMMBop and road trip classics 😉

Road trip singalongs are the best! Do you agree?  What are your favourite songs to sing? Do you have specific lists or eras or styles of music you listen/sing to?  For me it usually depends who I am travelling with but nothing beats a good 80s/90s song list.... So last weekend I was on a road trip to Halls Gap with my sister, my brother in law and my niece and nephew. We had a fabulous time singing away the hours to many a favourite. Of course the kids occasionally asked for a song they knew but we thought it was important we listened to the classics haha 😜 We headed to Halls Gap for NanaFest 2019! A weekend to celebrate the 90th Birthday of my Nana Dawn. Staying in cabins and tents the family came from Victoria and SA and shared a weekend of catching up, a party, jumping pillows and bonfires. I do love my family, there is a a lot of us and it is lovely to see the all the generations interacting and enjoying each others company. We had wonderful weather and my sister

Where has all the time gone to?

Oh my goodness, it is March and this is the first blog post I am writing this YEAR!! I am sorry for the lack of blog posts. This year has started off with a bang and kept going and now is flying past! So let's catch up. 2019 began actually slowly for me, for the past few years I have had Oklahoma in the first week of January but this year we didn't have it so it was nice to have some holidays as last year was crazy! But the new year started with an Elvis Gig on the 6th, great to catch up and sing with the band again and then I headed off to Kuala Lumpur for Mary Kay Leadership Conference.  I had a ball there, meeting and learning from other Directors in Malaysia, Phillipines and Singapore but also getting to know the Aussie and NZ Directors better. Plus I had to sing in the Talent Night with the rest of the Directors from Aus/NZ Dancing behind and WE WON!! Hilarious but a fab time.  So then it was back and straight into rehearsals for Soul Factor's Fringe show
