"I will never leave you...."

On Saturday, another show finished and again I am left feeling very blessed and thankful for the opportunities that I get. The SA Premiere of "Side Show" the Musical with Hills Musical Company was another wonderful experience not only for those a part of it but loved but audiences as well. So many people told me how they were swept up in the story, they laughed, they cried and continued to think about it days after. And for that I am so grateful, because as an artist doing something that is new and a little different your...I'll say fear, is that no one else will understand what you are trying to share or achieve. The real life story of Daisy and Violet Hilton is one that is not particularly happy at times, life was difficult and in most cases "not their own" but they did make something wonderful out of it to and use their talents to brighten the lives of others, choosing to stay joined together because of their love for one another. Being a conjoine...

Come Look at the Freaks!

Hello! I hope this post finds you well. We are into April now and I believe I have recovered from what was an extremely busy March. It is nice to be focusing on just one show and my everyday Mary Kay work. This Friday Night, April 20th Side Show the Musical opens at the Stirling Theatre and I am very excited to share it with an audience. "Side Show", if you've never heard of it before is a musical based on the real life conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton. Trained in singing, dancing and other talents the girls were exhibited throughout Europe and then moved to America, touring the American side show, vaudeville and burlesque circuits throughout the 1920s & 30s. This musical highlights their discovery in a Side Show and then their rise to fame. I am playing Violet Hilton and have loved bringing to life a real life character alongside Fiona Delaine as Daisy. It has been a challenge in a way, as I am not used to being attached to someone for starters but...

Staying Alive in Mad March

Wow so much has happened since my last post!! This time of year is always crazy but I feel like I haven't had a chance to sit down and write this until now! So since February, Adelaide (the beautiful city I live in) has been alive with festivals of many kinds. Hundreds of shows, thousands of tickets sold and many, many fun times. I myself was in 3 shows and add to that, work, students, and rehearsals for another musical it has been crazy but Fringe ended last night and so I have come out the other end alive 😅 On February 24th, Soul Factor performed their Fringe Show "A Gospel Shot". 2 performances, almost sold out crowds and many songs but wonderful shows with a fabulous bunch of people. The feedback was amazing and so many of our audience members wanted to chat and tell us the songs they enjoyed most. Also there were many who came that just saw it in the Fringe brochure and bought tickets, having not heard us before so it was lovely to see that they loved it. This w...

Story of My Life

So if you are a performer in Adelaide at this time of year, you tend to be getting a little bit busy, well actually that could be if you are in Adelaide during Feb/Mar you are about to get busy. That might be a generalisation but with the Adelaide Fringe, the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide 500, Womadelaide just to name a few, there is a lot going on! So being busy is kind of the "story of my life" but this year has had an exceptionally busy one! I finished January with "Shrek the Musical" and that was really such a fun show! I talked about it in my last post as we had got through the first weekend, 40 degree heat and all. We did make it through the final weekend with 40 degree heat but great success. The audiences loved it and we all got great reviews. I do miss it, Fiona was such a great character to play and I really enjoyed working with everyone. I went straight out of that into SideShow the Musical with Hills Musical Company, where I am playing one of the H...

Feeling hot, hot, hot!

What a pleasure and relief it has been to wake up to cooler mornings these past two days, after the weekend I did wonder whether I would ever be cool again!! Performing through 40 degree days is hot work! How did you cope with the weekend? So I have been rather busy this year already. Oklahoma on a Farm was another success, for its third year and took up my first week of Jan. Again it was a pleasure to work up on the Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton, with a great bunch of people to full crowds. We finished on the 8th of Jan and on the 9th rehearsals started for the SA Premiere of "Shrek the Musical" with Adelaide Youth Theatre . Eight days rehearsal is really all we had before we moved into the theatre to perform this hilarious and fantastic musical. You might be thinking "are you serious??" and I can totally understand that, but yes I am. We would rehearse for around 7 hours a day and we have 2 casts so there was quite a few people around. But this is a talent...

Dreams Come True - Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!! So another year has flown by and we move into 2018. How did you celebrate the coming of the new year? Are you glad to see 2017 go or are you grateful for an amazing year? I saw in the new year doing what I love singing at the Big Bash Cricket! It was a great fun experience - great music, kaftans, big hair and singing on a 8 metre high stage along with fireworks, glitter and lights. Loved it! Also 2 days before that I achieved a GOAL and a DREAM of 13 years when I finished qualification for Mary Kay Directorship. Ever since I started my Mary Kay business I wanted to become a Director and finally it has happened. It was a dream that many times, I did not know whether it would actually come about but I never gave up on it. This year though I decided to focus on it and believe that I was worth it. I am so excited to lead an amazing unit of people and share with others the wonderful opportunity of Mary Kay. 2017 has been a FANTASTIC year for me in many respects....

Merry Christmas and lots happening in the New Year!

It is almost Christmas and I hope that you are enjoying this wonderful festive season. Do you have traditions that you love to stick to when you celebrate? Do you get time to enjoy the family time, the catch ups etc or are you just always rushing around?  I have been very busy up until this weekend and I am enjoying the chance to slow down a bit, well at least for the new couple of days 😅 Next year is already quite packed and there is still some things to do this year, including finishing Qualification for Directorship with Mary Kay (only one person to go!) and then I am singing at the Cricket NYE but then things get really underway first week of the new year! Anyway I thought I'd let you know about what's going on next year, in case you need some last minute Christmas Gift ideas 😉 2018 is going to be a great year and I am so looking forward to sharing so many different things next year! So Starting off with  Oklahoma! on a Farm  January 5-7 with  Emma K...
